Exploring My Topic:
While thinking of what tool I wanted to use for this project I already had a topic in mind. I wanted to keep my theme of concussion awareness going and present more in-depth knowledge of concussions. All of my research came from the 2012 NATA Position Statement on concussion. I took me a little while to choose what tool I wanted to use to present the information I had collected. But after narrowing the choices down I chose Powtoon as my multimedia platform. I had seen other students in the class using this program and wanted to use it for myself and let me tell you I love it. It is very easy for beginners to go in and make an animated video about anything you want to. It is very user friendly with an interface that easy to understand and make a great animated short film.
Exploring Powtoons:
I sure many of you know by now what Powtoons is but to fresh your memory it is a free to use software for creating animated videos and presentations. The mission statement is and I quote "To create the world's most minimalist, user friendly and intuitive presentation software that allows someone with no technical or design skills to create engaging professional animated presentations." After hours of honing my skills with the software I was create a wonderful short film to inform the audience on the growing concerns of concussions. Powtoon Animation: Concussion
Using My Toolset:
The main tool I used for this project was Powtoons. I used this application to produce and create my animated film. I had never used Powtoons before but had seen others in my class use it and wanted to try it out for myself. I was very pleased with my results from Powtoons and want to use it again on other projects. I also used the NATA position statement for concussions found on the NATA website.Skills Needed:
I have good skills when it comes to developing a well thought out story however I had no previous skill in using Powtoons. However my skills have grown while working with this program. The only skills I lacked were how to actually use Powtoons. Once I got into the program and learned how to use it I loved how it worked. Another skill I needed was my research skill. I am very good at research such as discovering differences in two or more variables. But the research I needed for this project had already been preformed and I just needed to find the articles that the results were in.
